Painting

Over the last couple of years I’ve been exploring mental health and identity issues for my 'Mind Field' series. I gained a powerful insight into both after a visit to Auschwitz and Krakow. I use colour as a beacon in the sometimes rather bleak world we inhabit.

I explore the layers and masks we hide behind when lives can be both chaotic and fractured. Covering depression and trauma with a veil of colour and bravado is something I find fascinating.

As a more cheerful counterpoint I also paint trees and still lifes but am also moving into figurative surrealism.

Printing

In my Printmaking, I use both relief prints and aquatints to reassemble as collage and I've been led down some unexpected avenues. The evolving 'Mind Field' series is a combination of my prints and paintings, I am looking at the layers and masks we hide behind when lives can be chaotic and fractured.
